In our continuing efforts to find homes for all our lost and abandoned animals, the Warwick Valley Humane Society (WVHS) instituted our Seniors for Seniors program in 1993. This program was designed to locate homes for older dogs and cats while at the same time providing companion animals to senior citizens.

The Seniors for Seniors program has placed numerous senior pets with senior citizens who are often concerned with the costs associated with adopting an animal from an animal shelter. Senior pets are typically well trained and somewhat sedentary and make an ideal companion for a senior citizen.

Senior citizens over the age of 60 (verification required) are able to adopt a designated senior dog or cat. All adoption fees including spay/neuter costs are waived with the exception of the dog license fee, which is required by New York State Law.

Please stop by the animal shelter for an application and to visit with our senior animals. Help save the life of a shelter animal that is waiting to become a lifelong friend.
